Have you heard about the wonderful Abbey Garden on Tresco Island off Cornwall? The island was home to a priory, first built in the period 1000 – 1100. The priory, then an Abbey, fell into disrepair in the sixteenth century.

In the 19th century, Augustus Smith created 17 acres of garden on the island, including tall windbreaks surrounding the area. This created a subtropical climate which has allowed an amazing number of warm weather plants to grow there.

You can see the garden live via this webcam, or read about it here.
